Connect Your AI deep dive
Bybit Trading MCP is the exchange's own official plug that lets an AI assistant like
Claude pull
Bybit market data, check your account, and place crypto orders by chat. It is free, MIT licensed, and actively updated. The catch is blunt: Bybit does not serve users in the United States, and handing an AI the keys to a leveraged crypto account is a fast way to learn expensive lessons.
Think of it as giving your AI assistant a universal remote for one crypto exchange, with almost every button on it, including the ones that move real money.

Bybit Trading MCP is a small program, published by Bybit itself on
GitHub, that sits between an AI assistant and Bybit's V5 API (the official channel software uses to talk to the exchange). An MCP server is a plug that lets an AI assistant like Claude read data or use an app. Once it is connected, you can type a question like "what is the funding rate on BTC perpetuals right now?" and the assistant fetches the answer from Bybit directly instead of guessing.
The scope is enormous. The README lists close to 400 tools across market data, account balances, orders, positions, transfers, grid and DCA bots, copy trading, loans, earn products, tax reports, P2P, and live WebSocket streams (a constant feed of price updates). The repo's own description and README disagree on the exact count, which tells you the project is moving fast. The 23 market data tools work with no login at all, so you can try it without an account key.
Here is the market truth. Most retail traders do not lose money because they lack access to 400 functions. They lose because they act too often on too little. A tool that lets you place a leveraged order by typing a sentence makes acting easier, not smarter. Bybit Trading MCP is excellent plumbing. Whether it helps you depends on whether you bring a written plan to it or a hunch.
Bybit did build in some guardrails. There is a testnet switch (a practice version of the exchange with fake money), and the README says Claude Desktop shows a separate approval prompt before each write action, such as placing or cancelling an order. That approval prompt is a seatbelt, though, and the README also notes an "Always allow" option exists. Click that and the seatbelt is gone.

Good fit if you are
Skip it if you are
Public discussion of Bybit Trading MCP is close to zero. We searched Reddit and Hacker News and found no threads worth citing. With a few dozen GitHub stars, this is a young official release that most traders have not heard of yet.
Silence is not a red flag on its own, but it means you are an early tester. Nobody has publicly stress-tested the order tools, and nobody has written up the rough edges. Treat that as a reason to stay on testnet longer than feels necessary.
What they like
What they complain about
An eligible Bybit account
Every authenticated tool talks to your Bybit account. Users in excluded jurisdictions, including the US, cannot open one under Bybit's terms.
An MCP-capable AI client
The server does nothing alone. It needs an AI app that speaks MCP to send it requests.
Node.js 20.6 or newer
The server is written in TypeScript and runs through npx on Node.js.
Bybit API keys
Needed for anything beyond public market data. HMAC or RSA signing is supported, and only one mode should be set.
Not available in the United States
Bybit lists the United States as an excluded jurisdiction on its restricted countries page. Using a VPN to get around that puts your account and funds at the exchange's mercy.
Leverage plus chat is a bad mix
Bybit is a derivatives-heavy venue. Typing "go long 10x" is easier than ever, and one misread instruction can liquidate a position in minutes.
The approval prompt can be switched off
Claude Desktop asks before each write action, but an Always allow option exists. Once enabled, the AI can act without a human check.
Huge surface area
Nearly 400 tools include transfers, loans, and earn products. More doors means more ways for a confused prompt to touch something you did not intend. Scope your API key tightly.
Young, untested in public
No community write-ups exist yet. You are the QA department.

Bybit Trading MCP is the most complete official crypto exchange connector we have seen for Claude. It is free, MIT licensed, actively maintained, and smartly ships with a testnet switch and approval prompts. As plumbing, it scores well, which is why the maintenance part of its Community Score is strong while sentiment sits at insufficient data.
The practical takeaway is short. If you are in the US, skip it. If you are eligible, start with the keyless market tools, live on testnet for a while, and never grant withdrawal permissions. Use Bybit Trading MCP to ask better questions, not to trade faster. Speed was never your edge.
Yes. The server is open source under the MIT license and runs on your own machine. You still pay Bybit's normal trading fees on any orders, and your AI client may have its own subscription.
No. Bybit lists the United States as an excluded jurisdiction, so US residents cannot hold an account. The keyless market data tools technically run, but the trading features require an account US users are not permitted to have.
It is as safe as the key you give it. Use testnet first, give the API key minimal permissions, disable withdrawals, set an IP allowlist, and keep the per-action approval prompt turned on.
Yes. The README gives setup for Claude Desktop and Claude Code, plus Cursor and VS Code. Claude Code installs it with a single command.
It has a testnet mode. Set BYBIT_TESTNET to true and the server points at Bybit's practice environment, which uses test funds instead of real money.
